The Asian Tsunami

On December 26th 2004, an earthquake under the sea cause a number of tsunamis in the Indian Ocean that took the lives of over 200,000 people. The earthquake was caused by tectonic plates crashing together under the ocean.

As a result of the tsunami, people around the world gave over £5 billion to help those affected. Many people left their homes and went out to Asia to help people put their lives back together. The disaster left millions of people widowed, orphaned and homeless.
