Working Virtue - The first edition was published in 1981. This Third Edition includes a preface by MacIntyre, who comments on the developments in moral philosophy over the last 26 years, answering criticisms of the theory and placing the theory in the context of 21st century ethical thinking.

Living in Grace: Virtue Ethics and Christian Living - The first edition was published in 1981. This Third Edition includes a preface by MacIntyre, who comments on the developments in moral philosophy over the last 26 years, answering criticisms of the theory and placing the theory in the context of 21st century ethical thinking.

A Theory of Virtue (2006) - Robert M Adams treats virtue as a thing that is valuable in and of itself. This differs from the idea that excellence of character has a utility value. In the book, Adams answers the criticism that virtue should merely be about the rights and well-being of others. Our relationships, our own good, are also appropriate motives for our actions. Adams argues that virtue is empirically real, finally asking "Can Virtue be taught?", recognising that virtue is often more the result of luck than our own efforts, but none-the-less the proper end for ethical behaviour.

The Puzzle of Ethics, Peter Vardy - Vardy devotes three separate chapters to Virtue Theory. His chapter on Aristotle covers more ground than any of the A level syllabuses require, but it is good to read about modern virtue theorists.

AS/A2 Philosophy of Religion and Religious Ethics for OCR: Study Guide Bob Bowie- A great book that gives an overview for every topic on the OCR syllabus. Does lack depth - do not buy if you aren't studying OCR!

Ethical Studies (Second Edition) Bob Bowie- - Includes a chapter on Virtue Theory.

Moral Problems, Michael Palmer - The book is hit and miss, as it covers only some of the topics you want.
