Love and friendship

The Christian teaching on love underpins all aspects of the course, so it is worth spending some time learning a few of the following quotes:

• You shall love your neighbour as yourself.   Matthew 22:39
• Husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.        Ephesians 5:28
• Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.        1 John 4:7-8
• I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.        John 13:34

You may be asked to describe and explain Christian teaching about love or friendship.  Discussion questions often arise - for example [1999 Q2c]:  'Love is all you need in a relationship.'
